3.3 Master Program and Summer School

Upon successful participation in Modules I-VIII in Buenos Aires, IMBS students continue with participating the IMBS Summer School in Freiburg. Here, every module is taught for 1 week intensively by the Freiburg faculty including practical laboratory work (at least 60%) in the different facilities. Participation in the IMBS Summer School for non-IMBS students is possible and considered on individual basis. For further information, please contact us.

Then, the students continue with two research projects (lab rotations) in the participating departments, chosen from different fields. Each project is individually supervised. It involves four weeks of experimental work, followed by one week of data analysis and a written lab report in the format of a scientific research publication. One of these research projects should be performed in Freiburg and the results of the project are presented in the annual IMBS symposium in Freiburg.

Finally, IMBS students continue with their Master thesis in a laboratory of their choice after approval by the IMBS committee either in Germany or Argentina. After 6 months of practical laboratory work, the master thesis is written and presented in Buenos Aires.

Final Examinations take place in Buenos Aires with Faculty of Freiburg and UBA.

After successful completion of the Master thesis and the final examination, all students are awarded with the titel "Master of Science" by the University of Buenos Aires.
